AMP Rider by Ariens Electric Lawn Mower – Battery Power
August 28, 2010
The AMP Rider electric mower has five 48-volt battery packs, comprised of four 12-volt VRLA (valve regulated lead-acid) AGM (absorption glass mat) batteries. The AGM design was originally developed for military aircraft where power, light weight, safety and reliability were critical. The AGM battery design on the electric mower eliminates sloshing and potential spillage from tipping.

Four 12 Volt batteries that are rated for 15 amps each, wired in series totaling 48 volts at 15 amps then stringing five of these packs in parallel raising the amperage 15 amps at a time to achieve (48v*75A) = 3600 watts (3.6 kW) or one Watt Hour; Not that you could eke out the total amount of potential energy.
Why not just use four 75 amp 12 volt marine batteries in series? It sure would be cheaper when it comes time to replace those batteries.
